Drayton Arts Festival

The Drayton Arts Festival is held annually during the last weekend in October. It is a not for profit, community event, with an underlying aim to promote and showcase the creative talents of every age group in the community. We endeavour to promote ‘access to all’ for most of our festival events, through low-cost entry or by voluntary donation. This is helped by some funding from the Town Council and fundraising events hosted by local groups.

The Covid Tribute Memorial sculpture, located behind the library in Market Drayton, was subject to vandalism just nine months after installation.

It's believed that a stone was thrown at one of the stained glass panels - the white coloured glass dedicated to keyworkers - which was completely smashed in the attack.

The sculpture cost £2,000 to create, funded entirely by the community, and repairs for the damaged panel were estimated to cost around £400.

Now, after calls for help, a local business has jumped into action to help with the repairs.

Drayton Plastic and Glass has offered to carry out the repair and cover all costs involved.

Suzanne Edwards, who was the main project organiser for the memorial, said she was overwhelmed by the company's generosity.

Market Drayton Schools 2023 Calendar Project

On behalf of the Arts Festival Team we would like to say a big thankyou to all our sponsors, the staff and children of the local schools, businesses, traders and local people who have supported the project by buying a calendar this year or given a donation. To date we have raised just over £1000 and are well on our way to reaching our target to be able to fund the professional artist's fees and art materials for the painting workshops we will be running in all the schools for the 10th Anniversary of the Calendar Project in 2024.
Comments from people who came to see the Exhibtion:-

For our 10th Anniversary celebration we are planning to stage an extra exhibition displaying all the children's paintings that have featured in the Calendar since the first edition created in 2014.
The 2023 Calendars are on sale until Christmas at £5.00 in the FDC, the Library and at Glyn's Framing [Stafford Street]
