This was the second Community Arts Festival in the town, with the objectives being to showcase local talent in the arts in and around Market Drayton and to bring high quality performers and artists to the town from further afield to provide an opportunity to see performers locally which might otherwise not be possible. It was a conscious decision that the vast majority of events would again be free of charge.

There were some 30+ different events, some of which were held on more than one day and it is estimated that more than 2000+ people of all ages participated in total.

The events included artists and performances in the following areas:

-Music – classical , jazz, choral , singing for fun, three local choirs

-Bell ringing

-Visual arts – fine art , photography exhibition and competition

-Drawing and painting events

-Dance festival

-Literature and creative writing , meetings with local authors, open mic

-Story telling for children

-Stage and performance , theatre performances

-Junior Halloween Bakeorama

-Children’s celebration of art

-Community arts – mask making , traditional entertainments etc

-Street perfomers – puppet show, jugglers, musicians , drawing classes

Events were held in multiple locations including;

– Festival Drayton Centre

-St Mary’s Church

-Market Drayton Methodist Church

-Local pubs – Sandbrook Vaults ,The Red Lion

-Market Drayton library

-Charter court

-Market Drayton Museum

-The Parish Rooms

– Market Drayton Youth Centre

-Dalelands and Fairfields Estates

-Market Drayton town centre

A significant marketing and publicity campaign was undertaken which was well received and the programme for the Arts Festival was managed well within budget. So it is felt to be fair to say that from comments received it was felt to be very successful !

Significant financial sponsorship was received from public and private sources and the festival team is very grateful to all our sponsors and supporters without whom this second Festival would not have been possible.

The festival team is carrying out an evaluation of the programme in early December 2015 with a view to considering future plan. Funds are available to help to ensure continuation of a Festival to help develop local artistic talent within the town.
