Drayton Arts Fest

DraytonArtsFest is produced by a group of volunteers. Events will be held in venues in and around the town, such as Festival Drayton, St. Mary’s church, the Library, local pubs, cafes and shops. Many of the events will be free, but in some cases a fee will be charged to assist with costs. The brochure of the Festival programme will be published in September with details of booking arrangements. The online programme will be updated regularly.

The Drayton ArtsFest and MDCE team wish everyone in the town a Happy Easter
We would also like to take this opportunity to present everyone with our idea for an alternative proposal for the Town Council’s planned erection of a granite obelisk memorial to Covid outside the library Total Cost approx.. £1500
Our overall design priorities: - to symbolise respect, care and sensitivity to an all-age and gender audience; to represent a timeless and iconic piece of street furniture in the centre of the town.
This will be a gift to the town from the combined committee team members of the Drayton ArtsFest and the Market Drayton Community Enterprise as a gesture to the community to offset the cancellation of our Community Festival events in 2020 due to Covid.
The proposed financing for this project will be allocated from money raised by members of the community at special events held in 2019 to support funding the 2020 ArtsFest and MDCE Festivals.
We welcome your comments and any other design suggestions.

Drayton Artsfest and Market Drayton Community Enterprise are proud to announce their sponsorship of Irene Stasinski's 'Tribute to the NHS' Poetry booklet. Irene is 90 years old and a prolific writer of poetry - [over 200 poems]. The idea for an NHS Tribute Booklet arose after Irene was taken into Telford hospital before Christmas with the staff on the ward requesting she write a booklet for the ward.
DraytonArtsFest and MDCE decided to help with the project by sponsoring the cost of printing 100 copies - to be distributed to Telford, Shrewsbury and Whitchurch Hospital Wards, Local Care/Sheltered housing communities eg Charter Court, MD Health Centre. Churches and Community buildings eg Town Hall, Raven House, Festival Drayton Centre, RBL, Beacon Centre, MENCAP and Community organisations such as the local U3A
Also, if anyone would like to purchase a copy it will be £3.00 [including postage to be sent/delivered to home addresses] with all proceeds to be sent to the NHS

We are delighted to announce that the 2021 edition of the Market Drayton Schools Calendar is now published.

Because of Covid 19 restrictions, the paintings from each of the 13 participating schools have been chosen by local artist Malcolm Hague from the previous 2014 – 2020 editions of the Calendar. Local businesses have again generously sponsored the printing costs.

We are hoping that local people will continue to support the Calendar Project, which has raised a total of over £8000 for schools over the last 6 years. Unfortunately, due to Covid restrictions, we are unable to sell the Calendars outside Morrisons this year.

However the 2021 Calendar is on sale at the usual price of £5.00. through the following outlets

The Festival Drayton Centre [front desk]
Brosy’s Computer Shop [by Wilko”s]
The Style Court Hairdressers, Wilkinsons Walk
For cash on delivery to your door:
Suzanne Edwards [sznnedwards@gmail.com] or Phone 01630 698088

All proceeds from sales of the 2021 Calendar this year will be given to each of the 13 participating schools in the form of a whole day Art workshop offered by Malcolm Hague to be organised within the current academic year.
